Getting to the Polls! Teaching About Voting Rights With Role-Play and Simulation
As a national election approaches, students will have questions about voting rights and voter suppression. This session focuses on using the Supreme Court’s Husted decision to evaluate controversial state-level voter registration laws, as well as a legislative simulation activity on reforming voting laws, to help students think critically about voter participation. Free lesson materials will be provided.

Central to this process is identifying a shared understanding of what ethnic studies is. Through presentations and hands-on activities, the UCLA History-Geography Project will present its process.
