There was more to Cesar Chavez than his trailblazing fight for farmworker justice.  Equal opportunity for women and protection from harassment in the workplace, gay and lesbian rights, environmentalism, animal rights, and the promotion of a plant-based diet: all were subjects of his civic engagement.  His toolkit included grassroots organizing, strikes, boycotts, lobbying legislatures and working with government officials.

Participants will review and evaluate a free, designed-for-the classroom 20-minute documentary entitled Cesar Chaves: Respect for All.   The film introduces Cesar’s 10-year-old great-grandniece, a full-fledged activist, and the youngest person to ever give a TedX talk.  Preview the curriculum materials for the movie  at http://teachwithmovies.org/cesar-chavez-respect-for-all/

A trivia question that underscores Cesar's modern-day relevance: What do Joaquin Phoenix and Cesar Chavez have in common?  Join us to find out!
