The California History-Social Science Framework asks teachers to teach history as inquiry, but the reality is that teachers struggle to create effective historical questions.  We propose a potential solution: teaching inquiry by engaging with historiography.  Using the civil rights movement as the example, this workshop will explore different “schools” of interpretation and offer techniques to integrate historiography into the classroom.
